There were two big wins in the GulfWeekly / Citroen sponsored Bahrain Ladies Football League last week for Venus and Joga.

After three narrow defeats, Joga finally put some points on the board with a 5-0 thrashing of Seef Dental.

The Seef ladies never recovered from an early Alaa Al Dirazi effort, when she escaped her marker and fired home confidently on the way to securing a hat-trick. Also on the score sheet were Eman Ebrahim and Ebba Ahmed who hit home from the penalty spot.

Venus kept up their 100 per cent winning start to the season, overwhelming the Arsenal U21 team 7-0.

Early goals settled this game too. Two well struck strikes by Lamees El Saqqa and Anastasia Salinas gave Venus the lead and they never looked like surrendering it. More goals came from Azra Nourridin, Fatima Mahmoud before Anastasia added another three.

After four games, invincible Venus are proudly sitting on top of the league, with the Arsenal Ladies three points behind having played a game less.

This week’s action sees the two unbeaten teams playing each other, while Seef and the Arsenal U21s try to bounce back when they play each other. Joga face The Gunners.
