The cracking gymnasts from The Children’s Health Academy of Specialised Sports (CHAOSS) in Bahrain returned from Dubai after participating in their fifth annual regional competition with a haul of medals.
The girls brought home three gold, seven silver and five bronze and the boys picked up one gold, two silver and five bronze medals at the weekend.
The gymnasts were accompanied by coaches Debbie Payne, Cara Mattias, Mahmood Mubarak, Sara Axtell and Joel Smith. Payne said: “It was a much tougher competition this year as standards have improved.
“The introduction of new levels and routines has meant that more gymnasts had the opportunity to compete and this meant much higher standards.”
A special mention goes to seven-year-old Mohamed Alnajjar in his first competition for CHAOSS, achieving four medals, and seasoned competitor Charlotte Axtell, 11, who waltzed away with four medals, plus second overall in her category.
The gymnasts who had a good competition will now need to up their game even further as they will move up to a higher level for next year’s Inter-Gulf Gymnastics Competition, Payne added.
CHAOSS, based at the EZFit builing in Saar, thanked sponsors Reza Hygene, Paxton Co, Seef Dental, Mondelez International and Alosra for their support.
