Summer is just around the corner; the realm of relaxation and rejuvenation is within sight. Idyllic white sand beaches and picturesque sunsets come to mind, along with an almost zen-like calm that is associated with inner peace.
Your glass is never empty; the calming music is seemingly eternal. We’ve all dreamt of this holiday … yet it’s rarer than a confirmed UFO sighting.
The reality, unfortunately, is a lot harsher. From overpriced airline tickets to overpriced hotels, we travel halfway across the world to eat at the same McDonald’s and shop in identical malls to those in Bahrain.
Family vacations turn into a thoroughly exhausting affair, since there’s always a scheduled itinerary where you wake up at the break of dawn and walk in endless spirals to ‘cover’ touristic locations, until you collapse on your ‘$200 per night’ bed. The white sand beaches haunt you in your dreams, but you’re too tired to protest.
What’s the point? Why throw away money for what results in a grand accumulation of pictures stored on your laptop?
