Mega Mart Bahrain has officially moved into Al Hayat Shopping Centre in Segaiya, replacing former flagship British retailer Waitrose, which left the island in April this year.
At 24,000 square feet, this will be Mega Mart’s eighth outlet in the kingdom falling under the umbrella of popular retail chain Babasons.
According to Raju Waghnani, Babasons and Mega Mart’s general manager, Al Hayat Shopping Centre is a great location for the new store as it’s in a residential area and has ample basement parking.
Mr Waghnani said: “We believe that customers have been looking forward to a proper supermarket in the area. There are a lot of cold stores around but unfortunately they are not able to offer everything shoppers may need. There was a demand for a supermarket here and we wanted to fulfil it.”
The new store will feature products imported from countries such as Australia, UK, Europe, Asia and South Africa, at competitive prices. The shopping experience is also said to be enhanced by the store’s well-designed aisles and strategically positioned checkout lanes.
The store boasts dedicated counters for cheese, fish and meat. There is also a bakery, which sells fresh bread straight from the oven along with cakes and pastries. Mega Mart also includes a lifestyle and electronics section providing items such as stationery, dinner sets and other household products.
