While others in Bahrain took a summer break, the Indian Ladies Association was hard at work, putting the details in place for yet another rocking Dandiya session to celebrate the Indian festive season.
The event is set for September 25 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Bahrain featuring a DJ and plenty of surprises, say the organisers.
The Dandiya dance, a folk dance from Gujarat, is an inter-active affair performed by matching simple steps with the clap of decorated wooden sticks, all set to fast music.

“The ILA Dandiya is a great celebration of family values and fun. Any profits we make are used to support deserving charitable causes,” said ILA honorary president Nivedita Dutta. “It also gives the differently-abled children of the free Sneha Centre that the ILA runs an opportunity to use their creative skills in making painted clay lamps or diyas for the Diwali season that follows.”

The event will be spiced up with competitions for best dancer, best dancing couple and best costumes as guests come dressed in ethnic costumes. And to make everyone feel at home there will be stalls of various traditional foods from different parts of India.

This year the ILA is organising the event with Mega Mart as a main partner, co-sponsored by BEMCO and sponsored by Jac Motors, Kala Niketan, Everest Global Mumbai and Al Hashmi Pearls, alongside media partner Your FM.

Other sponsorship help would be welcomed. Companies interested in working with the ILA on charitable causes can contact ilabahrain@gmail.com or call 39850372, 39227567 or 38872702.
