Have you ever heard of Bahraini ice cream? Well, I’m not sure it exists, but in my world my Bahraini ice cream is a perfect combination of tasty and healthy.
How do you make ice cream without milk or sugar or preservatives?
Take six bananas and freeze them overnight. Take them out of the freezer and add them to the food processor in small chunks. Process until the mixture gets creamy.
Why bananas? Because bananas are rich in potassium which we all need to hydrate the body efficiently. And also because bananas have a texture that can easily emulate that of cream so it gives a creaminess to everything.
Once you’ve made it into cream, add soft dates or ripe fresh dates; and add cardamom powder. Process until well blended.
You can serve immediately with a sprinkle of chopped pistachios, or store in the freezer to enjoy later. I love serving them in little Arabic coffee cups.
