YOUTH TALK
I AM a coffee person. There are a multitude of health benefits associated with the consumption of coffee, which include boosting metabolism, fighting depression and protecting your liver.
As someone with persistent headaches, coffee also manages to alleviate them. Thank you. Coffee also has magical powers of keeping you awake at 7am during a working day. You slept at two; you need the caffeine boost.
However, there is a nasty downside to the rose-tinged, hyperactive world of caffeine: the eventual crash. After a few hours of alertness, your brain starts to steadily get foggier.
You’re moving a little slower, people are talking a little louder than they need to. Before you know it, the effects of minimal sleep are showing. It’s just one o’clock in the afternoon.
You have to resist reaching for your next fix. However, I succumb, because work needs to get done, and coffee tastes awesome. Not that Frappuccino stuff - that’s basically a dessert - but honest, freshly brewed coffee with a splash of milk.
Coffee makes the world go around. And, everything in moderation, right?
