The Young Musicians of the Gulf (YMOG) heats take place at St Christopher’s School’s Isa Town and Saar sites from January 27. The Grand Final of the competition will take place on January 29, at 7pm at the Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa Hotel.

The annual BSPCA Dog Walk will take place on January 30 at the Animal Welfare Centre in Askar. Registration costs BD10 and you can either bring your own dog or borrow one of the shelter’s dogs by pre-booking. The route is 4km for adults and there is a shorter 2km route for kids.

Gates open at 9am, with the registration desk opening at 9.30am and the walk beginning at 10.30am. Sponsorship forms can be downloaded from the BSPCA’s Facebook page or collected from the shelter’s thrift shop, the British Club or the Dilmun Club.

The Royal Golf Club’s Links Restaurant is hosting a special Valentine’s Day four-course dinner with appetisers on February 14. The cost is BD34 net per person inclusive of a welcome beverage and a rose for the lady. For more details, call 17751262.

The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain Hotel & Spa will host a Bahrain Food Festival on February 27 from 10am onwards. It will start with the Farmers’ Market, which will offer guests a chance to savour a traditional Bahraini breakfast or to refresh themselves with a saffron juice. The 24 Hours Bahrain Karting Endurance Championship will take place on February 27-28 at the Bahrain International Circuit, Sakhir. Entry is permitted to all provided they are at least 15 (under-18s require parental authorisation form) and teams require a minimum of four and a maximum of 10. Entry for spectators is free.

Boxing legend Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton, pictured below, will be presenting a talk about his career, his take on the world of boxing – new and old – and also his views on football and his beloved Manchester City, at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa on March 13 from 7.30pm.

The night will also include a performance by British comedian Peter McCole, a five-star gourmet dinner, live music from Bahrain band ‘The B Side’, a prize raffle giveaway and a boxing and football memorabilia auction.
