IT is really hard to keep up with a fitness routine, never mind to start one from scratch. My advice to you is to get motivated by finding some awesome workout gear.

Here is a list of important things to consider when choosing your ‘workout wardrobe’:

* Baggy be gone: Make sure you wear clothing that is not too loose, because it could end up getting caught on equipment and possibly prove to be a safety hazard. Never mind, the risk you take while performing ‘downward facing dog’ in your morning yoga class. Does your neighbour really need to see anything you normally hide? SportsOne can keep you ‘covered’ with ‘Soybu’ (popular Yoga collection) available in-store now.

* Safe not snug: Try not to wear clothing that is too tight either. Check to make sure that the waist, armpit, shoulder and groin area has a lot of stretch by doing some practice lunges and by lifting your arms up over your head. The worst thing is to feel constricted while working out.

* Keep the beats low: Make sure to keep the volume on your music down enough so that you can be alert to your surroundings. It is important to be able to listen for car horns while running on the road or to monitor the rhythm of your breath for pacing.

* Front cash for footwear: When looking for shoes go to the experts and don’t be afraid to spend a little more money. Most shoe retailers have knowledge staff members that are well trained in helping you find the right footgear for the right fitness activity. They may also be able to check your pronation (the inward movement of the foot as it rolls to distribute the force of impact of the ground as you run). Every foot is different and you may require more or less support for the arches of your feet. The shoes you need for training for a marathon are very different than the ones you will need moderate to light workouts.

* Sport the right bra: Women learn quickly whether or not they have the correct support when hopping around in an aerobics class or heading out for a long run. You can end up feeling really uncomfortable and sore if you don’t have the correct fit. Make sure to try on many different styles and sizes and do a ‘bounce test’.

* Not with cotton: Look for fabrics that help wick-away sweat and keep you dry. Avoid wearing cotton because it ends up sticking to you and can see all visible sweat marks. Yuck.

* Smart shorts and trousers: Finding the right shorts and trousers can make the world of difference when doing any sports activity. Nike has some brand new arrivals that I fell in love with. They have the all new ‘Epic Lux Tight Fit’ that boast of exceptional support and flattering fit, mile after mile. It has trendy prints and colours to choose from and a whole section called the ‘Legendary Pants Collection’. Therefore, in my opinion, you cannot go wrong with a statement like that. If you stop in any Nike stores in Bahrain they will have all the right gear and advice waiting for you.
