Correct posture

No two people swing a golf club the same. Whether a beginner or a world class golfer, everyone swings it slightly differently.

Golfers are different shapes and sizes and have different flexibility but, in general, the best golfers in the world do the basics right, including grip, posture, alignment etc.

It’s important to have the correct posture at set-up, as we need to retain this through the backswing and downswing. If your head moves up on the backswing it must move back down on the forward swing.

If it doesn’t you will thin or top the ball or if you move back down too much you will strike the ground before the ball. If the spine angle remains the same throughout the swing there is a lot less to cause inconsistency.

Try to create good posture before you swing – a straight back with your chin up, slight knee flex, good tilt from the hips allowing your arms to hang down freely from the shoulders.

Maintain a good angle through the backswing, down into impact for more consistent strikes!
