Be prepared for the unexpected

In the last 30 years of playing golf, I have come across so many different shots from different lies, that if I were to try to list them I would surely fill this whole page!

What this has taught me is to be prepared for the unexpected. Hitting a great drive to walk up and find your ball in a divot is a shock, frustrating and fearful, all rolled into one!

With a few simple adjustments, you can get out of this situation with less worry:
* Place the ball further back in the stance.
* Weight slightly favours the forward foot, with hands ahead of the ball.
* Make a downward strike through impact and don’t try to lift the ball out of the hole.
* Allow for a flatter ball flight and more run when the ball lands.

Don’t forget, you will make more friends if you repair your own divots!
