Hip Hop pioneer Darryl ‘DMC’ McDaniels will perform live in Bahrain next month. The second edition of Jam Up, a venture established to promote Bahrain-based musicians worldwide, is bringing in the legend of Hip Hop for his first live performance in the kingdom in an event spread across three days from May 6-8, details to be announced shortly.

Jam Up is also offering one Bahrain-based band the once-in-a-lifetime chance to play alongside DMC to iconic songs such as Walk This Way. The open auditions for this will be staged in partnership with Room 2 Rock and will be held on Friday in Saar and April 10 in Adliya.

Renowned chart-topping musician Pitbull will take to the stage in Bahrain next month. He will be the headline music act during the Formula One race weekend at the Bahrain International Circuit.

He will be performing on April 18 as part of an extensive line-up that includes British band The Vamps and Swedish DJ Otto Knows.
 
Complementing the musical acts, there will be a variety of other activities over the weekend. One of these is the Snow Village, a special marquee located in BIC’s Formula One Village vending area, which will include a synthetic ice rink, a snow garden, a cross-country skiing area, a climbing wall, and a tube and freestyle slide.

An ice show entitled The Ice Queen will also be performed through the day. The production features a variety of dynamic ice skating routines combining glamour and fun.

Furthermore, around the BIC will be ‘roaming performers’, entertainers from across the world. These include Bandas às Riscas, a troupe of street performers from Portugal, Be-Dom, a group of young artists who convert jars, cans, bottles and drums into musical instruments, and Daniel Waples, one of the world’s leading HandPan musicians.

Also in action will be The Freaks, a young acrobatics squad from Austria who will perform breath-taking gymnastics stunts and awe-inspiring acrobatics moves, and Flava, a dance troupe who last year reached the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent.

Rocking a powerful rhythm will be LED drummers Spark!, who are returning from last year with their blend of high-impact musicianship, dynamic choreography and stunning lighting design.

Keep your kids entertained over the Easter holidays by signing them up for the Royal Golf Club’s Easter Sports Camp, where they will enjoy a range of sports activities including basketball, swimming, football, mini golf, Zumba and more. The five-day camp will take place from Sunday until April 9, from 9am-1pm daily, and is suitable for children aged three and upwards.

All children are welcome, Club membership is not required. The cost is BD60 per child for the full five-day camp, or BD15 per day, inclusive of a light snack and all activities.

Renowned DJ Paul van Dyk will host Coral Bay’s F1 Closing Party on April 19. Tickets for this show will cost BD30 on the door.

A ‘Berber Women of Morocco’ exhibition is being held at the Bahrain National Museum, Manama, until April 15 as part of the 2015 ‘Year of Heritage’ festivities. It is open from 8am-8pm.

Saudi artist Faisal Samra is hosting an exhibition titled ‘Global Warming’ at the Bin Matar House in Muharraq. It will run until April 26. The Bin Matar House is open Saturday to Thursday, from 9am-1pm and 4pm-7pm.

The Tapas Restaurant at Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa will be staging a unique Spanish cultural and gastronomic festival from today until April 10.

Chef Jordi Gimeno has flown in from Barcelona to dish up authentic Spanish Tapas alongside the popular rice dishes paella and arroz caldoso cullera de boix with seafood surprises. The festival will feature appearances by acclaimed international dancers and singers Grupo Flamenco Las Duquelas.

The Royal Country Club’s Family Movie Night takes place in the gardens from 6pm. All are welcome to attend and entry is free.

The Ramee Grand Hotel & Spa, Seef, hosts a Seafood Night every Thursday at its Lemon Tree restaurant. On offer are lobsters, shrimps, octopuses and more. The cost is BD14++ for adults. Royal Golf Club’s Links Friday Carvery Brunch features a range of starters, live cooking stations, traditional carved meats, desserts and more.

The brunch, from noon to 4pm, costs BD18 net for adults, including unlimited selected soft drinks, and BD27 net for adults, with unlimited selected house beverages. It’s BD9.500 net for under-12s and children aged four and under eat for free.

Furthermore, reservations are now being taken for the Easter Family Brunch which will take place on Friday.
