A fundraiser held at our home on behalf of the BSPCA last weekend which was attended by British Ambassador Iain Lindsay and his wife, Bridget, gathered a fabulous total of BD2,645.
Local businesses generously provided a total of 90 donations which included numerous raffle prizes, including a Manchester-return flight from Etihad Airlines won by Steve Litherland, plus a sizeable donation from GPIC.
A fun-filled day was had by more than 100 guests who also contributed to the event by bringing food and drinks for the buffet.

I have been invited back again to Bahrain next year, and they want a bigger and better exhibition ... guess I had better get to work!
Dennis Hoyt, Oregon, US.
Editor’s note: Motor-racing enthusiast and sculptor Dennis carved his way into the hearts of F1 fans at the recent Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix with a stunning display of his car creations.
I am writing to you on behalf of The French School of Bahrain. The middle school students are staging a musical entitled Around the World in 80 minutes on Thursday, May 14, at the Cultural Hall at 6.30pm. The musical has been written and directed by teacher Sadaf Karim.
The students are performing to raise money for charity. Last year, the proceeds from the musical were given to Al Sanabel Orphanage.
They take pride in performing a musical in the English language which, in some cases, is their second or the third language.
Tickets cost BD5 for adults and BD3 for children under 10. Call 39326227 for details.

Thank you for featuring me in last week’s issue. This was by far the most comprehensive English language interview I’ve ever done. It was such a breath of fresh air to do a genuine interview. Most English publications in Bahrain, sadly, only do paid-for write-ups.
