INGLOT Cosmetics has launched its Freedom System perfume collection just in time for the summer with five floral and fruity cream fragrances.
I received a perfect package at the GulfWeekly offices containing a patch of plastic grass, a USB (cleverly disguised as a lipstick) and a set of three stackable fragrance palettes. Oh, and a couple of wee little wooden lady birds in order to set a proper summer picnic scene.
At first I did not know what the fragrance palettes were, and started applying it like lip-stick because it looked exactly like a ‘gloss pot’ that you apply with your fingers. I quickly learned that was NOT the case due to the sting on my lips and quickly wiped it off. I asked my work child, Kristian, what he thought it was but he ended up just smelling it and playing with the magnets with the same uncertainty.
The tiny lipstick USB led me to the discovery that Inglot is known for an efficient, mix and match system that gives the freedom to assemble custom-designed make-up palettes and that now fragrance was included in the offering.

My favourite pick is ‘purple musk’ which has top notes of bergamot, ivy, and clary sage with mid notes of jasmine and rose ending with musk, cinnamon and tonka beans. In-store they are selling each for BD9.
These little fragrance pots are light and fresh and can be mixed in order to create a unique smell. What I liked was that it was a cream and would stay ‘put’ for a while and not evaporate.
The packaging is clean and neat and handy to just throw in the handbag for when on the move. The little case is eco-friendly because it is reusable and the magnets are strong and will not break away inside the purse, keeping it tidy and free from dirt.
I personally never stepped foot in an Inglot store because I tend to shy away from a place that gives me too much choice. Maybe because I used to get what we call ‘Costco fever’ back home in Canada from the massive box store with way too many products to choose from. I have memories of breaking a sweat and feeling confused.
However, I like the idea of choosing my own make-up colours and this outlet boasts of 1,500 shades with 450 ways to improve your lips, 600 eye shadows and 400 nail polish options.
I can honestly say that I really enjoyed the ragrances that I tested, namely Golden Wood-a mix of apricot, orange, peony, honey and wood and Mandarin Crush – clementine, apple, peach, jasmine with a base of musk and wood, and will risk shopping sickness to make a special trip in order to test some others. I also want to see how the freedom system works with the rest of the collection.
