The squad of 22 VIVA players have returned to Bahrain with enhanced skills, following a week of intense professional football training at Manchester United’s Partington Sports Village
The annual football camp, designed and conducted by Manchester United Soccer Schools (MUSS) to develop football capabilities of young players in line with the philosophy of the legendary football club, encouraged players to grow in a variety of areas including technical skills, tactical understanding, physical and mental skills, all within a positive learning environment.
The week-long training involved practical and workshop sessions, while improving the youngsters’ skills to dominate the 1v1 battle, combine to attack, make it count and win the game. Players were also tasked with explosive play skill challenge to learn a range of football specific movements and how to work on certain aspects such as strength, speed and power to maximise performance on the pitch.
Commenting on the players’ performance, MUSS coach Matt Johnson said: “We have seen a remarkable improvement in the team’s performance – they have progressed in terms of understanding and demonstrating various technical skills and most importantly, they learnt to practice teamwork with great social conduct on and off the pitch.
“In addition to the tournament, we exposed the players to a number of friendly matches so they could practice their newly-learnt skills while exploring their own football capabilities. Overall, VIVA players are a talented group of footballers who worked together as a team and implemented the true philosophy of the club.”
At the end of the training, three VIVA players – Ali Mohammed Redha, Yassine Benmansour and Hussain Ali Abdulhussain – were recognised for their outstanding performance individually and within a team as ‘Best Player of the week’, ‘Best Attitude’ and ‘Best Skills’, respectively.
