Bahrain, to me, is enchanting and charming in a unique and unusual way. My move six years ago from the English seaside resort of Blackpool has changed my once narrow perception of other cultures into something much wider, which in turn has set my life on a more adventurous path.
I spent my early childhood in the Lancashire town of two-star hotels, where I went to a small public school with around 20 children. Everybody was from the same neighbourhood and all the parents knew each other, or of each other, for many years.
The announcement in 2008 by my father about a new job in the Middle East left me unsure about the future and with a fear of the unknown.
I decided to go with the move and to start my adventure. On honest reflection, I am so glad it happened … and I’m not saying that because of Friday brunch, however, that might influence my opinion!
The family move has allowed me to meet so many amazing and special people, that I would never have had the chance to meet had we stayed in the UK.
The move to Bahrain has changed my perspective on life and I am desperate to tell people about my experiences here and to share my passion for the country, its people and its way of life.
My life in Bahrain has inspired me to write this column, so you can now join in my adventure as well.
