Tim Beynon, Nam Sang Oak and Kwang Bok Kim won the Awali Golf Club ‘Florida Scramble’ with a net score of 59.

Thirteen three-player teams competed in blustery conditions over 18 holes in this social competition open to members and guests, with or without handicaps.

The ‘Scramble’ conditions of play resulted in three golfers in each team playing a tee shot on every hole. One tee shot was then selected by the team and the player whose tee shot was selected was then eliminated from the second shot.

The other two players played their balls from that position. This procedure was followed until the ball landed on the ‘brown’ when all three players were allowed to putt until the ball was holed. At least four tee shots from each player had to be used. A gross score was entered for each hole and handicaps were calculated by taking 20 per cent of the combined team total.

Club president Steve Brown presented the prizes. Coming second on countback with a net score of 59 were John Parker, Jac Parker and Vidhu Mittal, who also organised the competition, and third came Mohammed Al Fedalah, Farook Ahmed and Nathan Prince with a net 60. ‘Nearest the pin’ awards went to Nam, Beynon and Jamie Macilear.
