The Indian Club Expats Football Tournament kicked-off on Saturday with the opening ceremony, followed by the first games of what promises to be an exciting month of football action at the club’s Gudaibiya premises.
The tournament has three categories – U15 for Indian expats, U19 and Open for all expats. The U15 category has 23 entries; while six and 12 teams have entered in the U19 and Open categories, respectively.
The organisers are urging more teams to enter the U19 category, with the matches starting from December 1. Entries close on November 25.
A captains’ meeting was held at the club on Friday evening with an introduction to the tournament format and rules by club president, Anand Lobo, and cricket, football and hockey secretary, Vijay Noronha, in the presence of other committee members.
A draw was also held for the round-robin groups in the U15 and Open categories – four groups for U15 and two groups for Open.
To register a team in the U19 category for further information on the tournament, contact the club on 17253157 or one of the organisers on 66928179 or 36661289.
