Natural airfresheners

Sometimes I feel suffocated … especially in elevators. The trend now is to put artificial air fresheners everywhere – in malls, shops, toilets and now even in a tiny crammed elevator.

This trend, of course, has many side-effects.

These sprays are not natural and they emit chemicals and toxins that can overload our liver and detox system, as well as the environment. And, these substances have also been linked to many diseases and illnesses, including cancer.

If you can, speak up about it and ask for these artificial smells to be removed. We don’t need to be inhaling artificial jasmine or strawberry scents on a daily basis.

A lovely alternative to artificial air fresheners is making your own. Boil cinnamon sticks with cloves and orange slices until you start smelling their aromas. Transfer the mixture to a small fondue pot with a burning candle on the bottom and place anywhere in the house. As long as it stays warm it will keep emitting beautiful aromas. Try it with a variety of ingredients, it works!
