Following the inaugural Ironman 70.3 triathlon, an after party was staged at the BIC. At the show DJ Jackson was the warm-up act for singer NE-YO.
Although the crowd was small, the atmosphere was incredible with some of the top triathletes from around the world descending on the circuit, including Daniela Ryf who had just won the Bahrain event and taken the prestigious Triple Crown awarded by Shaikh Nasser, who, along with his brother, Shaikh Khalid, were guests of honour at the concert.
There was also a surprise performance from Bahrain pro triathlete Eric Watson, when he stole the stage doing a free-style dance!
Shaffer Chimere Smith, better known by his stage name NE-YO, pictured above, is an American R&B singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer and actor. He gained fame for his songwriting abilities when he penned the 2004 hit Let Me Love You for singer Mario.
His new album Non-Fiction is available now and his track Coming With You boasts nearly 11 million views on YouTube.
He proved to be charismatic and commanding under the lights, accompanied by dazzling dancers who put on an impressive show too.
The concert was a fitting way to close a historical event. Not surprisingly, Daniela was incredibly happy at the after-party, celebrating being officially one of the world’s greatest ever triathletes (and, Editor’s note: probably now one of the wealthiest)!
All in attendance were proud to have been a part of the next chapter of Triathlon in Bahrain ... and the music played on.
