Putting – find the middle

Two key elements to good putting are line and distance control.

To develop consistency in both these areas requires a repeatable stroke where the ball is struck in the ‘sweet spot’ on the putter face.

Try this exercise on the practice green to help you find the middle of the face more often.

Tape a plastic ball marker to each end of the face on your putter, leaving just enough room in the centre to strike a ball.

Next, try rolling 10-foot putts without touching the ball markers to guarantee you are finding the best impact point every time. If you would like to book a golf lesson with a Royal Golf Club PGA teaching professional, call 17750777.
