Christmas came early this year for Sara Axtell, Jan Watson, Anne Kesterton and Sanne Smith when they won the Royal Golf Club’s ladies section annual Christmas Golf Tournament. The team achieved a nett score of 58.4.

The dubious honour of having played the most golf went to Lady Captain Anne Quintino and team mates Jenny McDonald and Araceli Deakin who achieved a team nett score of 74.8.The ladies, most of whom wore Christmas-themed outfits, started off their festive activities with a putting contest using a chocolate egg at the club’s practice putting green. This was followed by an 18-hole Texas Scramble tournament featuring a number of fun side contests including a best FootGolf shot of the day, most golf balls lost and shortest drive.

The day was rounded off with a prize-giving ceremony and traditional Christmas lunch in the Repartee Lounge with festive music, Christmas crackers and a Secret Santa gift presentation. Outgoing 2015 Lady Captain Quintino thanked Sohail Singh, the club’s golf events manager, for putting on a great day for the ladies..
