Gulf Weekly Ladies Captain drive-in success

The team of Debbie Lane, Tabea Lutz, Mary Fox and Clare McMenamin clinched first place in the Royal Golf Club’s annual Ladies Captain Drive-In golf tournament with a team nett score of 60.6.

Played in the Texas Scramble format, the tournament marked the official handover of the club captaincy from the previous year’s Ladies Captain Anne Quintino to 2016 Ladies Captain Karin Lutz.

The Sheraton Bahrain Hotel sponsored the ladies-only tournament, providing gift vouchers to the winning team.

A cheque for BD3,251 was presented to The Palm Association’s chairman, Karen Tennant, during the prize-giving ceremony at the club’s Repartee Lounge.

Results: 1st Debbie Lane, Tabea Lutz, Mary Fox & Clare McMenamin (60.6 nett). Nearest the Captain’s drive: Sarajane Gardner (hole 1); Nearest the pin: Anne Quintino (hole 12); Straightest drive: Hilde Kwik (hole 11); Longest putt: Denise Dunne (hole 18).

The Royal Golf Club’s friendly team of PGA professionals runs regular six-week-long tuition programmes for youngsters as young as six with the next series starting on Saturday. Children of all ages and abilities can enjoy a one-hour lesson each week which not only includes the basics of golf but incorporates activities to improve hand-eye co-ordination skills and more.
