Mohammed Akeel and playing partner Iftikhar Butt were crowned overall champions of the Porsche Monday Madness Night Golf Series at the Royal Golf Club after winning the series order of merit with 15 points, just two points ahead of youngsters Ali Al Kowari and Daij Khalifa.

The final competition of the six-week series was played in the Texas Scramble format and was actually won by husband and wife Carlo and Margaret Sudar. Akeel and Butt were runners-up and Al Kowari and Khalifa came third.

Nearest the pin side contests on holes 12 and 16 were both won by Samantha Hill. The evening was rounded off with a prize presentation ceremony in the Members’ Lounge where Sohail Singh, the club’s tournament co-ordinator, and Taher Ali, marketing manager for Porsche Centre Bahrain, presented the prizes.

The series takes place at the Royal Golf Club every Monday. The 9-hole competitions are open to non-members at a cost of BD20 per night and tee off with a 6.30pm shotgun start. To register for the new series, email golfevents@theroyalgolfclub.com

Sign your kids up for the new six-week long Junior Golf Programme at the Royal Golf Club where they will learn all the basics of golf as well as making new friends and getting some fresh air and exercise.

Classes are open to children of all ages and abilities and start this Friday and Saturday. The six-week programme costs BD60 per child and includes tuition, use of the driving range and all equipment. To sign up, call 17750777 ext. 302.
