The Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre will host the 12th Middle East
Geosciences Conference and Exhibition (GEO 2016) today and tomorrow.
More than 4,000 geoscientists and petroleum industry professionals from 50 countries will
gather to debate and shape the future of the industry, build skills, network with peers and
purchase products and services at the event.
Al Riwaq Art Space is featuring a group exhibition titled ‘Identity Borders’ until April 5. It
examines the many transitions that have shaped the country in social and cultural contexts over
the past decade, and showcases new and emerging artists that look ahead towards defining and
assessing a new identity. The gallery is open from 10am-10pm daily.

The Bahrain Bay Kitchen restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay is now hosting a
Fisherman’s Night every Thursday from 7pm. It features an extensive seafood buffet from which

St Christopher’s Cathedral is hosting a ‘Melodies and Harmonies from East to West’ concert as
part of a series of events celebrating 200 years of friendship and trade between Bahrain and the
United Kingdom.
It will take place at 6pm and features Bahraini flautist Ahmed Al Ghanem, Nadia Lopchynska on
piano and Iryna Ulrikh on cello. The British element of the programme will include two pieces by
G.F. Handel – Sonato No 2 and Largo – and the trio will play two pieces composed by Al Ghanem –
Samaee Ghanem, which was performed as a world premiere in St Christopher’s Cathedral in 2014, and
Intedhar, performed in November last year in Tromso Cathedral, Norway, to great acclaim. Other
pieces will be by composers as diverse as Dvorak, Faure, Massente, Gluck, Marhoon and Yamada.
Tickets are BD5 and accompanied children are welcome free.
‘Views’, an exhibition featuring the work of more than 50 local and international artists,
including celebrated British artist Damien Hirst, pictured above, will open to the public today
and run until March 16 at the Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain Hotel & Spa.
Friday (March 11)
Tony the Dogfather’s supporters are staging a fundraiser at the British Club from 7.30pm. The
event will feature a one-time-only reunion of the expat band Revival, as well as a DJ, buffet

Tuesday (March 15)
The Disney Live! Mickey’s Music Festival will be coming to Bahrain today until March 19 at the
Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre. Mickey and Minnie Mouse will join Donald
and Goofy, along with 25 of the world’s favourite characters, in what promises to be a fun-filled
live theatre experience.
