The
Budaiya Pre-School class mums began an initiative to distribute shoe boxes and bags containing
essential items to needy children in Bahrain.
They asked for donations, placed a fundraising table at the school’s ‘family fun day’ and
appealed to local businesses for support.
As a result more than 100 boxes and bags were made containing personal care products and other
useful items which were distributed in Budaiya village.
Many thanks go to Day to Day and Talent Bahrain for generous donations of school bags and
stationery, plus Tara Toothbrush factory for a donation of 100 toothbrushes.

I was caught up in the ‘school run’ traffic in Saar attempting to reach the highway. I normally
miss travelling at that time of day but had an urgent early appointment in Riffa to attend to. I
never realised the absolute insanity of some mothers (although that’s not a description I would
give them) driving their children to St Christopher’s.
I witnessed cars hurtling at great speed on the wrong side on the road with children
(obviously, not wearing seats belts) sitting in the front as well as the back seats. Three times I
witnessed lunatic women coming close to causing head-on collisions with motorists coming back
towards Saar Avenue.
It’s utter madness, inconsiderate and damn right dangerous. I really don’t care about them, but
I do worry about their child passengers and any poor driver who happens to be heading in the
opposite direction.
Get the police on to these side roads pronto in the morning and lock a few of these pathetic
parents up.
