Film fans in Riffa are rejoicing after a cineplex finally opened in their major urban area, with the new Wadi Al Sail Mall housing a six-screen Cineco entertainment outlet.
The BD2 million investment provides a total of 724-seats including 89 VIP comfort specials, with screens featuring the latest technological advancements in sound and visuals that its operators claim will ensure ‘the best experience’ for audiences.
A grand opening that took place last Thursday evening with invited guests from the media proved dramatic too. The event was disrupted by a fire alarm, according to media reports, caused by misbehaving children. However, this didn’t dismay the press party who regrouped to enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour of the new location and the screening of popular Indian film Fan.
Dr Esam Abdulla Fakhro, chairman of Cineco, said the new cineplex opening was part of the company’s nationwide expansion plans. The Wadi Al Sail Mall is its sixth, alongside Seef Mall, City Centre Bahrain, Saar Cinema, Al Jazira (Muharraq) and Al Hamra (Gudaibiya).
