Ithmaar Bank, a Bahrain-based Islamic retail bank, will once again support the King Hamad Trophy Golf Championship, organised by Bahrain Golf Association.

The ninth annual tournament, to be held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad from November 17 to 19 at the Royal Golf Club, is one of the highlights of the kingdom’s golfing calendar.

Ithmaar Bank general manager, banking group, Abdul Hakeem Al Mutawa, confirmed the bank’s continuation as an event gold sponsor at a ceremony attended by Adel Al Fayyadh, the national team manager of the Bahrain Golf Association, member of the organising committee and head of the championship’s hospitality committee.

Al Mutawa said: “Ithmaar Bank was a sponsor of the inaugural event and we’ve continued to support the Championship every year since,” he said.

The event attracts a large number of players, spectators and golf enthusiasts from Bahrain and around the world. “This year alone, we are expecting about 100 professional and amateur players from a number of countries and trophy and cash prizes to be won,” said Al Fayyadh. “We are grateful to Ithmaar Bank for its valuable support throughout the years.”

Invitations to play are also being sent to associations under the umbrella of the Arab and Asian-Pacific Golf Federations.
