The Gulf Hotel Bahrain will be hosting its biggest Oktoberfest yet on September 29.

Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea Spa will shortly be launching the annual culinary and cultural extravaganza ‘The Amazing Tastes of Thailand Festival 2016’.

The event, in partnership with the Royal Thai Embassy, Gulf Air and ITL Travel, will run from Monday until September 11.

An exhibition continues at the Bahrain National Museum celebrating the strong civil and military aviation heritage between Bahrain and the UK. The centrepiece is a Supermarine Spitfire, which first flew 80 years ago.

The exhibition runs until October 23.

With less than a month until Brave Combat Federation’s premier event Brave ‘The Beginning’, an injury bug has hit the card.

Filipino fighter Crisantos Pitpitunge, pictured left, will no longer take part of the first instalment. The bantamweight fighter suffered a knee injury during his training and was forced to pull out of his fight against Ivan Lopez.

In a sport where the objective is to either knock out your opponent or submit them, it’s not a surprise that injuries come with the territory in mixed martial arts. Pitpitunge, a 13-fight veteran in professional MMA, with a record of eight wins and an Asian-Pacific title, says he is bitterly disappointed to miss out on the action on September 23.

His opponent, Ivan Lopez, one of the biggest names in the Mexican circuit, now waits for a replacement. With 15 professional fights, Lopez is seeking his 13th win.

Brave Combat Federation will be headlined by the welterweight showdown between the two-time Middle-Eastern champion Mohammad Fakhreddine and the undefeated Brazilian prospect Thiago ‘Monstro’ Vieira, as reported in last week’s GulfWeekly.
