Entrepreneurship is considered the backbone of sustainable modern economies and plays a major role in driving innovation and growth within the business sector.

One of the main pillars of Tamkeen’s strategy is to develop the entrepreneurial sector in the kingdom by launching several initiatives and services aimed at supporting the growth and development of this sector.

Mashroo3i – a youth business awards competition – is one of the key initiatives launched by Tamkeen aimed at empowering them in order to build the entrepreneurship capacity. Through this initiative, we aim to encourage the youth to embrace entrepreneurship as a career choice. Amal Al Kooheji,  Tamkeen’s Chief Operating Officer.

Editor’s note: Mashroo3i aims to support Bahraini nationals aged 18 to 30 in transforming their business ideas and dreams into feasible plans. Registration for the fourth edition of the competition is open until January 28. Apply by visiting www.tamkeen.bh/ mashroo3i

Readers are cordially invited to the American Women’s Association (AWA) upcoming VISIONS 2016 Art Exhibition, showcasing art and photography, at Swiss-Belhotel Seef, on Friday and Saturday.

With all participants living in Bahrain, their widely differing backgrounds means that each piece of art is the reflection of their personal styles, subjects, and approaches.

A wide variety of styles, subjects and approaches, from realism to pure abstraction, will be presented. All pieces on exhibition will be on sale.

We hold this event for two reasons: to showcase the diversity talents of AWA’s artists and raise money for our community service fund. Annually AWA donates an average of BD30,000 to charities in Bahrain. AWA is an active and diverse association that brings together women from around the globe, to promote charity, friendship and cultural understanding.

Opening night will be on Friday at 7pm. Free entrance.  Exhibition will be open from 10am-7pm on Saturday. Irina Averinos, AWA Art Group Chairperson – iaverinos@yahoo.com
