Unfortunately due to bad weather conditions and flooding the BSPCA’s Valentine’s Dog Walk 2017 had to be postponed. The dog walk area in Askar was already flooded and weather forecasts correctly predicted more rain last week. The society apologises for the short notice and while we understand this will be a disappointment for many, the BSPCA must ensure first the safety and welfare of animals and visitors. A future date for the BSPCA Dog Walk will be announced as soon as possible on our website and social media channels – please follow us to keep up-to-date. If you have booked a dog you can get a full refund (call us on 17591231) or keep your receipt for the future rescheduled walk. With best regards, Ana Foltin, Communications, BSPCA.
DUE to the weather conditions, Jawad Mini Marathon had to be postponed to until this Friday. Sorry for the inconvenience. See you there! Haseen Chhaya, Jawad Business Group.
THE road outside my compound near Saar has been dug up constantly for several months to carry out sewage work, laying of fibre-optic telecom cables ... and the rest. It’s important that such infrastructure improvements are made in the country but it would help if the work was occassionally coordinated between the various agencies. Yet again, a work crew arrived with picks and shovels at the ready just three weeks ago and carried out whatever task they were assigned to do before the rain came. They haven’t returned and the hole they dug has just got bigger, partly due to the flooding. Drivers who have time to avoid it steer into oncoming traffic and those who don’t pay the price with a trip to the garage or repair shop. I’m not sure whether to fill it in myself with rubble or wait for the next work gang! Bemused expat
