This weekend sees Round 4 of the 2016/2017 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship.

The second ‘test and tune’ session takes place today at 5pm after yesterday’s opening session. Tomorrow will see qualifying with a 4pm start and Friday’s Race Day action takes to the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) at 3pm.

There are a total number of 15 competition classes this season.  The cars classes include the Street 4 and 6, the Outlaw Front-Wheel-Drive (FWD), the Super Street 6-Cylinder, the Outlaw 6-Cylinder, the Street V8, the Super Street V8, the Outlaw 10.5, the Index 8.50, the Index 9.50, the Index 10.50 and the highly competitive Pro Mod.

The bikes classes include the Street Bike 9.50, Street Bike, Super Street Bike and Pro Bike. Motorsport fans can purchase tickets at the gate. Today’s Test and Tune costs BD2 entry and tickets are BD5 for both Qualifying and Race Day at the Start Line Grandstand, while tickets are BD3 for both days at the Batelco Grandstand.

Children aged up to 12 can attend for half price. On Thursday and Friday, the globally-renowned Jet Funny Car Show will be performing demonstration passes live at 5pm.

Martin Hill, owner and pilot of the Jet Funny Car, said: “We are honoured to have been invited to attend these events and will look forward to entertaining the crowds at the BIC.”

The Jet Funny Car is a world record-breaking vehicle. With the intense heat that’s propelled from its jet engine and the roar promises to ‘silence the crowd’ as it accelerates down the strip.

This mechanical monster of a machine develops thrust in the jet engine equivalent to more than 10,000hp and can destroy the quarter-mile in just five seconds with a terminal speed in excess of 300mph.
