This week I absolutely need to give a big shout out to all the Bahrain rugby teams that smashed it big time in the annual Abu Dhabi Junior Rugby Tournament!

It’s always an incredibly well-organised tournament and the biggest in the region with players, coaches and parents embracing the electrifying energy and camaraderie of this popular event.

Our teams gave it their all and sure did Bahrain Rugby Football Club proud this year. The U16s came thumping home winning the Plate Cup Final, the U14s making it to the overall final out of 18 whopping fierce teams. Next came the U13s grabbing the Plate Cup Final in style too and let’s not forget the U9s storming home with the Winner’s Cup. Possibly the most successful tournament ever, with everyone returning to Bahrain feeling proud and quite rightly so. None of this comes without the hard work and commitment from the children, parents and coaches.

On these rugby tours as a parent, I can truly see the bond and respect from the boys to their coaches, these incredible volunteers are making such a difference in our children’s lives. Week in, week out giving their free time - thank you!

A special shout out to David Edwards who continued to coach the U13s/U14s despite work commitments in Qatar and as our boys move on up to the U16s group next season: ‘Dave, you’ll be missed - legend!’
