Hip hop’s heavy hitter Fat Joe was on fire as he kept Klub360’s movers and shakers dancing all night long.
Every year during race weekend, this popular nightspot puts on a raging event featuring the urban music world’s crème de la crème … and this time around the party was popping. In fact, Friday night’s affair was bigger and better than ever … in more ways than one!
My husband Sam and I have been colossal Fat Joe fans from our high school days and have bopped our heads to a number of his chart-topping hits like What’s Luv and Make It Rain while cruising around the kingdom to this day.
As a result we made sure to get to the venue early to park ourselves at the front of the stage to watch the rap royalty perform in all his glory.
As we waited for the big man to appear, Elite Hospitality Group public relations manager Najia Zainal, asked if we could join her for a media briefing.
Without a second thought we made our way to a private room where a charming and very much down-to-earth Fat Joe and his crew chatted and posed for photographs with the hotel management team and the night’s support acts.
Then he was off to shake-up the crowd. Originally, record producer DJ Outlaw, Bahraini rapper Flipperachi and Kuwaiti singer Daffy were supposed to get the audience pumped up for the main event. However, the American star simply jumped straight on stage and thrilled the audience with an electrifying and memorable performance.
Fans rushed the stage and smartphones popped up to snap pictures and videos of the performer before a burst of cooling smoke covered them.
The audience was mesmerised by his moves and cheeky grin and soon everyone was screaming and jumping on the dance floor with delight.
Fans hung onto his every word between numbers and they all joined in to add extra harmony to his classics. The crowd favourite was Lean Back. Fat Joe was like a conductor orchestrating the audience who gladly obliged by following his steps.
Every time he started another song, colourful streamers exploded from the stage adding to the race party atmosphere. There were clever touches too when he picked out fans and dedicated special songs to them such as Still Not A Player.
All The Way Up had everyone dancing again and then just like the occasional puff of smoke, he was gone … but not before walking through the crowd and taking more selfies with his fans.
The night didn’t end there, as the Outlaw Production support team who took to the stage for a delayed appearance, keeping the crowd captivated late into the night with songs such as Ee La, Khameskom Falla and Samboosa. DJ Fahad Westside and DJ Jackson also contributed well too.
A party night to remember as Fat & Co clearly means fabulous.
