American designer Michael Kors’ latest ready-to-wear line aims to empower women in and out of the office by dressing them in curvy cuts, high-waisted trousers and dramatic dresses, writes Mai Al Khatib-Camille.
Entitled Transeason 2017, Michael combines 50s glamour with an 80s twist focusing on the likes of powerful women or ‘dames’ as he calls them from the big-screen, including the fierce Katharine Hepburn and the sultry Kim Basinger.
This falls in line with Michael’s signature style where femininity meets masculinity. His designs include menswear tailored outfits with defined waists, strong shoulders and military accents contrasted with curvy ultra-glam dresses and skirts that are cinched at the waist.
Women can also feel confident to conquer anything in belted pant suits, a twill trench and boyish argyle knits. For a touch of femininity, Michael also added longer fit-and-flare mid-calf length skirts and cropped high-waisted trousers.
His timeless dresses are fit for any occasion in streamlined black and white, as well as metallic silver and gold accents.
Graphic florals are all the rage as well as menswear checks and pinstripes and flirty fringes on dresses.
Some dresses, skirts and trousers also include Park Avenue-punk chain embellishments and embroideries.
As for the accessories, Michael added cat eye glasses for that fifties flare and structured bags with zipper and chain details. These details can also be found on satchels, pumps and booties.
The models paired the power looks with stiletto and kitten heels.
