The first annual Anime/Manga/Comic Arts Show will be held until Saturday at Words Bookstore and Cafe in Budaiya from 6pm.
Headlining the show will be Anna Thackray, creator of the popular GCC-based ‘Shamal Comics’.
The show will feature 18 artists, all living in Bahrain, whose work focuses on themes of manga, anime, comic illustration, video games and fandoms. Many of these artists will be exhibiting their work for the first time.
Originating in Japan, anime has been a special part of Bahrain culture since the early 1980’s, when popular anime series such as Dragon Ball and Pokémon were dubbed in Arabic for local television.
