Gulf Weekly Charming impression

THE new Renault Megane has been unveiled by Y.K Almoayyed & Sons, the marque’s exclusive distributors in Bahrain, and it’s been described as ‘quite a charmer’.

Globally it’s been well-received too by motoring reviewers with some suggesting its ‘broad shoulders, sculpted sides and ribbed bonnet’ radiates confidence.

Awarded a five-star safety rating from Euro Ncap, the Megane appears to have all the components that could make it an ideal choice for the kingdom’s highways.

Sreekumar, general manager, Renault Bahrain, said: “We are extremely proud and thrilled of this new addition to the Renault line-up. The Megane brings new energy to the city. With its dynamic solid lines and highlighted with chrome, this charmer quickly dominates the scene in my opinion.

“The Renault Megane gives a driving experience that is enriched with driving technologies unique in the sector.”

Its signature lights are probably the first thing observers will notice. A set of pure vision LED headlights have been settled on both sides of the chrome grill that are framed by C-shaped LED daytime running lights that provide the car with a clever 3D effect.

Driver’s safety and comfort remain a top priority for its designers and it has been equipped with numerous assistance technologies such as Electric Parking Brake and Blind Spot Monitor which help warn drivers against potential collisions. The Megane comes with a nippy 1.6L engine and a richly-furnished interior with a panoramic glass sunroof that expands the horizon by illuminating the passenger compartment.

Equipped with five different options of ambient lighting, the drive experience aims to provide multi-sensory pleasure. The driver can also enjoy a massage feature and lumbar electric seat, making every journey a pleasurable one.  Total control over the vehicle is a touch away with an 8.7-inch tablet touch screen. Using voice control, the driver can access and manage navigation, telephone, media, driving assistance technology and various other services.

One of the top features of the Megane is the ‘Intelligent hands-free Key’ where the vehicle welcomes the owner from afar, lighting up the headlamps, rear lamps and interior lights as the driver approaches. Additional features include a hands-free tailgate and 18-inch grand tour diamond-cut alloy wheels.

One media reviewer showered it with praise, saying ‘there’s a handsome and muscular exterior, and a smart new high-tech interior that contains all the modern safety kit and all the executive toys you’d expect to see only on much pricier cars’.

The 2018 Megane starts at BD5,400 under the current offer, with the top-of-the-line (Design Pack) at BD7,125.

GulfWeekly’s own motoring correspondent Kristian Harrison will put the Renault Megane to the test shortly but if readers cannot wait for that, visit the recently-opened new Renault Store in Sitra boasting a new ‘visual space identity’ concept, in line with Renault’s leading global standards and specifications.
