Gulf Weekly New safety vehicles at race circuit

THREE vehicles from the Jaguar marque have recently been chosen by Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) as safety cars on the track for local and international racing events – the F-TYPE Coupé, a XF Portfolio and a XFR.

In motorsport, a safety car is used to limit or control the speed of competing vehicles on a racetrack in the case of a caution period such as an obstruction on the track or bad weather. The aim of the safety car, also referred to as a pace car, is to allow marshals and officials to clear any obstruction under safe conditions, or during instances where the race has to be slowed down to await more favourable track conditions weather-wise.

As important as a safety car during a race, the medical car has to be on the ready at all times to transport medical staff to a certain location on the track at the fastest possible time.

Majed Al Zayani, managing director of Euro Motors Jaguar Land Rover, expressed his ‘absolute pleasure’ for the vehicles to be ‘exclusively chosen’ by BIC.
