City Centre Bahrain is set to create even more great moments for families with its latest promotion by bringing the much-loved My Little Pony Live Show to the kingdom for the first time.
The performance to be staged from October 24 -28 is a spin-off of the highly-successful entertainment franchise developed by Hasbro, originally as a toy line for girls.
The first toys were developed by Bonnie Zacherle, Charles Muenchinger, and Steve D’Aguanno, and were produced in 1981. The ponies feature colourful bodies, manes and a unique symbol, or ‘cutie marks’ on one or both sides of their flanks.
My Little Pony has been revamped several times with new and more modern looks to appeal to a new market. The brand saw a more popular revival in 2003 with toys that more closely resembled the original toy line, which sold approximately 100 million ponies globally.
Hasbro launched the fourth incarnation of the franchise in 2010, which started with the animated series My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. This revamped incarnation not only appeals to the little girls that the toy line is primarily marketed to, but has drawn a cult following of teenagers, self-proclaimed geeks, and even adults that remember the original TV series, specials and films.
In this series, Princess Celestia sends her star pupil, the bookish unicorn Twilight Sparkle, to Ponyville to improve her social skills. Twilight quickly makes five new four-legged friends - Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rarity. Each instilled with the respective spirits of magic, honesty, loyalty, laughter, kindness and generosity, the animals learn that by working together they can achieve the most important element of all - harmony.
Children in Bahrain can join their favourite ponies in magical Ponyville and go on a journey of dance, song and laughter. They can also get ‘Ponyfied’ with My Little Pony activities and games.
