MOTORCYLISTS dressed in pink and roared along the kingdom’s highways to raise awareness of breast cancer as part of an annual ride to support the Think Pink Bahrain campaign.
Ninety riders from various motorbike groups across the island decorated their mean machines on Friday morning with ribbons, boas and roses.
The charity’s founder Jules Sprakel described the annual Think Pink Bahrain Breast Cancer Awareness Motor Bike Ride as a ‘fantastic show of camaraderie’ and one of the best examples of community effort.
“People with bikes from all over the island and from different nationalities came together for an awareness ride and that’s what it is all about,” she added, “coming together and raising awareness about breast cancer.”
The Desi Riders, Bahrain Riders, Soul Riders, Das Grim bikers, BMW Group alongside individual motorcycle enthusiasts started off the pink parade from Riffa Views International School before heading towards the Seef area.
Others sped away from Bahrain Polytechnic in Isa Town before joining the others at journey’s end at the Cavalli Café in Al Aali Shopping Complex.
Before setting off, the bikers enjoyed cake brought in by the Desi Riders to pack everyone with energy for the colourful road trip.
Motorcycle enthusiast biker Davina Altman, 47, an Australian expat from Saar, said: “We had such a great turnout of support for Think Pink Bahrain and it was another amazing collaboration of big hearted riders. Each and every rider was there because they wanted to support the charity.
“Thank you all so much for making a difference and helping to bring awareness to breast cancer in our community. Until the next journey, ride safe.”
