Gulf Weekly Girl power 3D artwork unveiled at popular mall

Lulu Hypermarket, in partnership with the United Nations Information Centre for Gulf Countries (UNIC Manama) unveiled a giant 3D chalk art drawing measuring 1,240 square feet in the atrium area of the Ramli Mall over the weekend.

The drawing will be entered for a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Artist Jincy Babu is one of just 160 or so skilled 3D chalk artists in the world. And her artwork is built around the theme of the importance of empowering the girl child as well as on the UN’s sustainable development goals.

The inauguration, under the patronage of Bahrain’s Minister for Youth & Sports, Hisham bin Mohammed Al Jowder, was attended by diplomats and members of the international community and helped commemorated International Day of the Girl Child as well as United Nations Day.

Welcoming guests, Mr. Samir Itmair Aldaraib, director of UNIC, thanked Lulu Hypermarket for the innovative partnership.  The clever 3D chalk art features a young girl in the sea which the artist hopes will highlight the ongoing refugee crisis.

“Talented Jincy has given us a unique opportunity to take the message of the empowerment of the girl child and the work of the UN to the public,” said Lulu Hypermarket’s regional director Juzer Rupawala.
