THE KINGDOM has this week been celebrating the success of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, president of Bahrain Olympic Committee and leader of the Bahrain Endurance (13) Team taking first place in his race category in the IRONMAN 70.3 Middle East Championship Bahrain.
Winning the amateurs and military category title has earned Shaikh Nasser a coveted berth in the 2018 World Triathlon Championship which will be held in Kona, Hawaii.
He completed the three-competition race in record time of 4.12:53 hours.
In the swimming race, Shaikh Nasser finished in 28 minutes and 56 seconds and then completed the cycling race in two hours and 13 minutes. He crossed the finish line after completing the running race in one hour and 27 minutes.
He beat a strong field in his category and was cheered on during the event by his children, Shaikha Sheema, Shaikh Hamad and Shaikh Mohammed who joined him at the end.
