VIPs, government ministers, prominent families and business leaders attended a stunning party staged to celebrate the opening of Reef Resort, located on Reef Island.

Owner Robert Mouawad and his family welcomed guests, who were taken on a tour of the unique multi-million dinar chic destination and treated to dinner and a night of entertainment.

There are 102 rooms in the resort spread throughout 39 individual residences, including 11 luxuriously-appointed two-bedroom villas, featuring a king-size room and a double room, kitchen facilities and large living space.

Hospitality industry veteran Darryl Marsden is confident its touches of class will help it carve a substantial slice of the country’s tourism cake. As reported in GulfWeekly, he was convinced as soon as he met the visionary behind the project, Lulu Tourism Company chairman, Robert, the grandson of the founder of international jewellers, Mouawad.

“I would like to thank our chairman for his vision and dedication to build such an exquisite resort and providing us the opportunity to work here at Reef Resort,” Darryl said after the party. “The team members at Reef Resort did an outstanding job not only on the night but a lot of planning and hard work to put this great event together.”

Reef Resort is also home to Reef Aqua Spa with sauna, steam rooms and Jacuzzis and two separate facilities for men and women, along with health clubs fitted with weights and the latest cardiovascular and resistance machines.

Its restaurants, lounge, cafés and sushi bar are already proving popular and one of the star features of the resort is a cleverly-designed soft-sanded artificial beach leading to an enormous temperature-controlled infinity-edge pool, close to another sandy-beached children’s pool.

Bad weather caused an original party to be postponed and it was clear last Tuesday evening why it played such an important part of proceedings with live musicians performing by the bay and sets by choreographed dancers inside giant bubbles floating on water.

Robert was joined for a cake-cutting ceremony by his wife Laila and son, Pascal, who had earlier given a welcome speech to the gathering.
