The inaugural Debbie Lane Memorial Trophy tournament was held at the Royal Golf Club to remember the former ladies captain in an event set to become an annual fixture on the golfing calendar.

Organised by Karin Lutz and other helpers, a field of more than 80 players played on the Montgomerie course in an 18-hole Florida Scramble format.

The majority of the club’s lady members competed, with members of the Awali Golf Club also invited to join in. Players wore shirts sponsored by Seef Dental in Debbie’s favourite colour purple.

At the post-golf prize-giving, current ladies club captain Caroline t’Kint de Roodenbeke gave words of thanks to those who had contributed to the event, as did widower Rob Lane, highlighting the generosity of the members.
