Gulf Weekly IKEA officially opens

THOUSANDS of shoppers have been flocking to the newly-opened IKEA furniture store in Bahrain after last week’s VIP ribbon-cutting ceremony.

It was officially inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa who joined VIPs, government officials and special guests’ for the official unveiling 24-hours before the doors opened to the general public last Wednesday.

The opening was held under the patronage of the Crown Prince HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy Surpreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.

Saud Al-Sulaiman, CEO of Ghassan Ahmed Al Sulaiman Furniture Trading, who brought the Swedish furniture giant to the kingdom after first opening IKEA branches in Saudi Arabia, welcomed the guests.

Around 200 people attended the inauguration before touring the 37,000sqm two-storey structure … the calm before the storm as the IKEA shop team welcomed the hoard of shoppers who found their way to Salmabad over the weekend.
