The Manhattan, New York vibes continue to accentuate BOSS fashion as the German brand unveils its spring summer 2020 for men and women focusing on individuality.
The new collection called BOSS Individuals features the brand’s signature sophistication but redefined to reflect a new attitude to dressing in the new decade – one that puts the power of the individual at its core.
The fashion house, which relocated to Milan after New York Fashion Week, uses the Big Apple as a point of inspiration with the collection’s designs influenced by its iconic skyscrapers, waterside location and its people. There are new possibilities for styling with less-fitted suits and dressier sportswear. That being said, tailoring is clean and sophisticated, but with a lighter touch, while sportswear is refined through sharp cuts and elevated materials. For women, short, neatly cut jackets are effortlessly nipped in at the waist and combined with wide-leg pants or long wrap skirts, while maxi dresses in fluent silks offer summer elegance.
Detailed fluid coats are layered over many of the looks with utility elements in crisp cotton or crafted from nappa leather and ultra-soft suede. Glossy fabrics add a further dose of modernity to outerwear.
Leather is also in focus – patch-worked, bonded, laminated, and laser-cut to create airy dresses. Summery silk and cotton yarns elevate open-knit sweaters, while sporty pants are precisely crafted from lightweight technical cloth.
Colours are also fresh and light with shots of bold colour including hues such as navy, ocean, chambray, pool blue, mint green, sand and cream. There are also injections of red and yellow. The shades can either be seen as head-to-toe looks or colour-blocked into stripes and geometric patterns.
Male models at fashion week stepped onto the runway boasting men’s leather strap sandals, chunky-sole Oxfords and sneakers alongside women strutting in solid mules and woven leather. Accessories take the form of the compact colour-block Kristin bag and men’s leather carryalls and backpacks, all embossed with the initials of the individual wearer.
