Many people brighten up their homes with fresh coats of paint or furniture revamps. However, a quick and easy way to spruce up a space, add some natural calm with floral prints or urban glamour, would be to add wallpaper.

It’s a great way to add dimension to any décor and the right design can instantly lift a space while adding personality.

According to Emirati retailer 2XL Furniture & Home Décor’s head of marketing Amit Yadav, wallpapers often serve as both art and décor and are a great way to add texture and character to any space.

He said: “There are many ways to incorporate wallpapers into your design scheme, whether you want to create an accent wall with a bold pattern, enliven an area or cover an entire room.”

With wallpaper, there are hundreds of prints, patterns, colours and designs to choose from.

You can even vary the way the wallpaper is placed in the room. Some rooms look great with a wallpaper border while others require full wrapping.

It is also easy to maintain as most of today’s wallpapers are coated so that they wipe clean from common household marks unlike paint which would fade after a few scrubbings.

Wallpaper is also ideal for rooms that tend to get dusty and dirty. It can hide blemishes in the wall’s plaster far better than a coat of paint. Wallpaper adheres easily and smoothly to walls too.

Wallpaper trends for 2019 include florals, abstract prints, wonky grid and geometric patterns, giant leaves and fruits as well as the exotic Ottoman colours and prints.
