In a build up to Bahrain’s 48th National Day, thousands of people from across the kingdom and world are expected to attend the Bahrain International Circuit’s (BIC) festivities, combining the annual FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) race with a slew of entertainment for the entire family.
The FIA WEC Bapco Eight Hours of Bahrain will be taking place alongside the BIC National Day Festival for the first time ever and will be running for four days starting on Friday. For racing fans, BIC has lined up both the Porsche Sprint Challenge Middle East and the MRF Challenge along with the WEC to ensure non-stop racing excitement.
Laurence Jones, newly appointed senior manager of marketing and communications at BIC added: “This is our most ambitious National Day celebration yet. By combining the WEC and the annual National Day festivities, we wanted to create an experience that the entire family could enjoy. There will be children’s activities, famous regional and international entertainers and of course, the biggest and most brilliant fireworks display in the kingdom.”
In addition to the on-track excitement, fans will be entertained by The Black Angels from Kenya, Mariachi Jaliso Group from Mexico, and Six Harmonies Lion Dance Team plus Spark! LED Drummers from the UK in addition to nightly concerts featuring some of the region’s biggest names in music, including star singers Balqees, Mohammed Al Salem, Essa Al Marzouq and Abdulla Al Rowaished.
Entry is BD1 per person per day. Festivities start at noon on Friday and Saturday, and at 2pm on Sunday and Monday, running until 10pm every day.
