The World Health Organisation (WHO) advises people to continue practising social distancing and taking proper precautions even after Covid-19 measures are relaxed around the world.
As reported by Reuters, the epicentre of the pandemic is currently in countries of Central, South and North America, particularly the US and some countries have seen “upticks” in COVID-19 cases.
WHO spokeswoman Margaret Harris said at a UN briefing in Geneva: “Even when social distancing measures ease, people sometimes interpret this as ‘OK, it’s over’. It’s not over. It’s not over until there is no virus anywhere in the world.”
To avoid infection, WHO advise people to maintain a distance of at least one metre (three feet), to frequently wash their hands and to avoid touching their mouth, nose and eyes.
