Three days of off-track and on-track entertainment delighted fans at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) over the weekend.
In addition to a variety of games like archery, basketball and crown toss, there were also rides like a 42-metre Ferris wheel with 27 gondolas, a reverse bungee hurling riders straight up in the air, a 40-metre-tall Konga Ride and a Wave Swing.
“The rides and entertainment were amazing and made up for the concerts that were cancelled due to Covid-19 regulations,” 20-year-old Amar Kseibi from Adliya told GulfWeekly as she enjoyed a snack with her friends.
“We had a lot of fun and enjoyed all three days. We will definitely come next year as we have watched every single race since 2012.”
Game-savvy fans walked away from the rides winning plushy toys as prizes while BIC personnel sanitised equipment between each use and ensured social distancing protocols were followed.
A dozen vendors provided food and beverage options for those eager for a snack break.
The Interior Ministry’s traditional exhibit provided a journey down memory lane into the last century of Bahrain Police and the Police Band performed the national anthem ahead of the race.
Gulf Air also performed a low-emission flypass before the Grand Prix, with its Boeing 787-9 using sustainable aviation fuel to cut down on emissions and carbon footprint.
“I’m proud of what Team Bahrain has achieved in hosting no less than four F1 events in the last four months,” said Arif Rahimi, BIC chairman.
“Most notably, the guidance and support we have received from the Health Ministry and the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus have enabled us to run these events in a safe manner, whilst ensuring we could welcome fans and offer them an experience they will never forget.”
Meanwhile, diehard fans picked up merchandise to show their support for their favourite teams.
Yousif AlAwadhi, 20, who lives in Riffa, sat with his friends, Khaled Waleed Albuflasa and Mohamed, all sporting Red Bull shirts to show their support for Max Verstappen.
“It is an amazing experience especially since this year’s Grand Prix was the season-opener,” Yousif said.
“It made the weekend way more interesting and we got an amazing race. And the BIC team did an excellent job with safety precautions and the entertainment was on point!”
